Dreams & Delusions…

Close Your Hand

If I shatter,
Close your hand
Around my shards
Before they scatter-

If some of the pieces
Stick in your hand,
They are yours to keep,
But then I need you
Close to me…

If you can’t stand
The pain of holding me,
Extract the shards,
Hand them back,
Leave me be…

I can’t force you-
To love,
Or understand

I can only hope,
And, so, I do…
Maybe, someday,
I can be close to you…

Lately, all I remember
Of sleep
Is black, like my dreams
Have been veiled to me-
Maybe, if I really try
I can still dream of you-
I still want to…

  1. Ouch, this is vividly lavished with the language of raw love pain. Such a nice structure and flow this has, and those dreams, even as they linger in the back of conscious thought, do come, are super fragmented, warped and often make you feel a bit mental in the morning 🙂

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed it. It’s a painful place to be, but I can’t entirely say I don’t enjoy it… I’d like the dreams back. They were some of the best I’ve had. 🙂
